Jersey City and Hoboken Locations Bring the Heat This Winter
In 1997, a group called the Spice Girls released a smash song called “Spice Up Your Life.” It went a little something like this:
When you’re feelin’ sad and low
We will take you where you gotta go
Smilin’, dancin’, everything is free
All you need is positivity
Based on a few context clues, such as the restaurant not existing yet, this song wasn’t written about Orale. But who could blame us for suspecting? There were five Spice Girls. There will be five spicy dishes mentioned in this post. And friends, there are no coincidences. Let’s go.
Duck Nachos
Duck is delicious in so many preparations, but go figure, it might be best on nachos. In our take, rich duck confit is cut right through the middle with some yellow habanero salsa.
Truffle Hot Honey Guacamole
Need evidence of how strange and mysterious the world can be? Consider that the best thing ever to happen to honey was making it spicy, the literal opposite of its intent. That’s in here along with the creamy dreaminess of avocado and the earthy earthiness of truffle oil.
Borracho Taco
Pickled jalapeño cabbage slaw. Chipotle orange sauce. These hot things go right on top of some beer-battered fish, and it’s the complete crispy-crunchy-spicy triangle of love.
Shrimp Tacos
If Guy Fieri had invented this dish, he would have called it “Triple-Spiced Crustacean Nation Taco Wows.” Here, they’re just shrimp tacos, made with fermented chile de arbol sauce, pickled serrano cabbage slaw, and roasted poblano crema.
Tuna Crudo
Guava habanero mezcal sauce is one of the condiments in this citrus cured tuna dish, and we’re all lucky those three words found each other. It’s cold! It’s hot! It’s great.
For a sixth bonus opportunity to spice up your life, there’s the Spicy Margarita, which, as the name suggests, is a marg with some heat. Ask to add the serrano tincture. We’ll know what that means, because it can only mean one thing.
As a final thought, we’re working super hard at the restaurant to maintain the fun energy and quality menus during the coming winter months. We’ll have to work together to make it through safely and deliciously, but we will. In the meantime, people of the world, spice up your life.
