At Orale, we believe a Monday special has to be extra special. It deserves something more than a tray of dollar oysters and a pale pink Happy Hour martini. Monday needs spice, flavor, thoughtfulness—it’s the day that sets the tone for the week. That’s why we’ve created Jersey City’s only Paella Mondays special, $44 for two people.
“But you guys are all about the tacos!”
Well, yes, but Mondays are for paella. And we make great paella.
Our recommendation? Order it as soon as you sit down. Proper paella must be made to order, and ours takes thirty minutes to prepare. That’s the perfect amount of time to sip on a glass of sangria or two, depending on the Monday you’ve had. But if you cannot foresake your beloved frozen margarita, even with a Spanish dish, we understand and pass no judgments.
Then, it will arrive, a beautiful pan of mussels, calamari, skirt steak, prawns, sofrito, saffron, and, of course, rice. (We also count the socarrat—that toasted, caramelized crust that forms on the bottom—as its own ingredient.) Our chef keeps the dish’s traditional foundation, but as always, puts the Orale twist on it.
